Van Gogh Exposition

Another important event joins Venice’s cultural roster. A multi-media display dedicated to the life and works of the Dutch painter, the Van Gogh Exposition was produced by Navigare srl thanks to the patronage of the Ministy of Culture, the Region Veneto, and the Comune of Venice, and will be held at Palazzo Giustinian from June 2nd to September 30th 2018.

Through a virtual journey among screens, devices and guides, the visitor will be able to explore the life and works of the tormented artist under a new light, receiving information on the historical and cultural landscape that shaped the painter’s psyche and enjoying music evocative of the emotional state of Van Gogh during the years. The exposition narrates the different artistic periods and painting techniques in the artist’s career, through the use of color (particularly yellow and blue, Van Gogh’s favourites) as well as by grouping works by certain subjects (such as self-portraits, flower compositions, and landscapes). All information is presented and laid out in a simple and readily comprehensible way.

The visitor will also be able to admire a reenactment of the painter’s bedroom at the “yellow house” at Arles, in southern France, where Van Gogh sojourned in 1889. This bedroom remained a subject particularly dear to the Dutch artist, who would paint it numerous times with small variants among the copies.

The exhibition is held between Mondays and Fridays and on Sundays from 10.00 to 21.00. On Fridays and Saturday, the exhibition will be open all day from 10.00 to 22.30 (last admission 30 minutes before closing time). Ticket price: 15 (normal); 12 (discounted). Free entry to children under 6.
